The Claims IT organization is looking for Staff Software Engineer to join us and to contribute in producing the next generation of intelligent claims processing systems. You will have an opportunity to participate in the entire software development lifecycle process, while growing your knowledge with emerging technologies. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate strong technical leadership and communication skills, willingness to understand existing processes and systems, solid technical acumen, experience in delivering quality medium to large scale technical solutions and ensure the systems are stable, performant, and secure.

Responsibilities :

Provide technical leadership in Scrum Teams by enforcing the vision of the application architecture and safeguard the integrity of the application environment, in alliance with architects and other tech leads
Function as the go-to technical leader for the software applications supported, requiring depth and breadth of knowledge in technologies, applications, integration, interfaces and business domain
Collaboration with other teams and leaders to identify opportunities for integration across tools used in the life cycle, including agile, test automation, platform configuration management, and drive efficiencies.
Mentor and coach team members to enforce development guidelines and best practices
Work closely with stakeholders to design and document automation solutions that align with the business needs and are also consistent with the architectural vision
Ability to provide concise, transparent communications about potential risks, mitigations and business impacts in a timely manner.
Ability to understand technology trade off risks for the best customer value delivery.
Takes ownership to drive innovation for effectively leveraging technology to solve the customer problem.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Architecture, Computer Engineering or a related field plus 5+ years of post-baccalaureate experience in medium and large-scale application development. Experience should include the following:
Significant experience with one or more frameworks: JBoss. Weblogic. .Net, Angular Service apps, Legacy Application Integration Services
Demonstrable experience with UI Frameworks: HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, Angular, Bootstrap, CSS/SCSS, OAuth tokens;
Demonstrable experience with API/Services development and testing: REST API, SOAP, Fiddler, WCF;
Demonstrable experience with Devops DevOps principles and practices.
Experience in GuideWire and/or AWS is a Plus.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$102,000 - $153,000
