This applicant must be highly motivated to meet project deadlines and technology challenges. The technical developer will work directly with technical teams to understand the reporting and data requirements and logical data model, and perform requirements, design, technical design, build, unit test, system test and support user acceptance test. Production support responsibilities for applications include analyzing service issues, determining root causes, and resolving them. Location: Norfolk Southern Corporation has relocated its corporate headquarters to a newly constructed state-of-the-art building in Atlanta’s Tech Square neighborhood, located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta. Education: 4-yr College Degree preferably in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field Responsibilities: · Demonstrated affinity for seeking, evaluating, and coming up to speed on new technologies · Provide troubleshooting, analysis, and resolution of application software issues · Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle on both new and ongoing projects · Independently and collaboratively write and review software requirements, design specifications, code, unit tests, and release notes · Serve as a technical resource for internal and external clients · Serve as a technical leader for less experienced resources · Effectively communicate with other team members, managers, and customers both in writing and verbally Skills: Required: · Java development in Java 8 or later (11+ preferred) · Spring Boot 2.x · REST services using Spring MVC, JAX-RS and/or Jersey · ORM: JPA and/or Hibernate · Unit testing: JUnit, Mockito, and/or Spring Boot Test · Gradle or Maven · Git, GitHub · SQL queries, SQL performance tuning · Web development technologies (JavaScript, HTML and CSS) · Angular 8+, TypeScript 2+ · Jasmine, Karma · Cross-browser compatible code · Ability to create self-contained, reusable, and testable modules and components Preferred: · Relational Database: SQL table design, indexes, constraints, views, stored procedures, triggers · Messaging: Kafka, MQ, JMS · Other Spring libraries: Spring Cloud (Config, Bus, Gateway, Sleuth), Spring Cache, Spring Security, Spring Batch, WebFlux, Actuators, git-flow · Angular 8+, TypeScript 2+ · Bash, Zsh, or Ksh shell · Python · Log analysis: Kibana, Splunk, Elastisearch, Logstash · Experience making complex technical and design decisions for Angular projects · Experience writing Angular libraries · Experience with “thick client” style user interfaces, including features like editable grids, flexible layouts, user-customizable behavior · Federated Modules and Micro Front-Ends
