Network Software Engineer - Gaming

This is an incredibly impactful, early stage role on an exciting and ambitious interactive software platform. Your work will connect thousands of people into a multi-user environment spanning multiple platforms. You will work directly with production and development leadership to design, estimate, build and deploy solutions. You will have direct input on the growth of the backend and networking team. You will work with an exciting mix of cutting edge technologies and subject matter experts. As this is a senior role experience shipping and maintaining a large scale consumer facing project is heavily weighted in hiring.

Expectations:

  • Participate in the full development lifecycle of high-performance solutions for client and server game logic. Including design, coding, automated testing, and production releases of backend services and networking code.
  • Have a performance, latency, and scalability-obsessed approach to all tasks.
  • Participate in and bring an experienced POV to time estimation, staffing needs, and architecture conversations.
  • Can thrive working in an agile environment to rapidly prototype solutions before final architectures or designs are in place.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of Server/Client architecture in relation to real-time interactive experiences and games.
  • Had a role in deploying and maintaining a live service used by many.
  • Expertise writing code in Python, Java, C++, C#, Ruby, Go, or any of the many languages used to build back-end services
  • Strong understanding of content delivery systems and cloud-based asset management.
  • Knowledge in networking with an understanding of latency and bandwidth

Nice to haves:

  • Linux
  • Understanding of database design and query optimizations using relational databases, such as MySql.
  • Experience with a game or networked interactive built with Unity
  • AWS or GCP expertise
  • AAA, mobile or AR/VR gaming Industry experience favored
  • Experience building stems that work fluidly across multiple out-of-house systems, databases and APIs.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
