We are seeking an Email Developer to join our growing Digital team that aligns with our culture and is ready to do whatever it takes.

Here is a summary of the role:

The Email Developer will work on email deployments (including list deployments, API-triggered messages and ongoing campaigns) for a variety of consumer brands. The specialist will be setting up email campaigns and will be responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and deployment. As part of the production team, this position will be working with teams who provide creative and HTML assets. Depending on the client, these teams could be within Tandem Theory, on the client-side, or from another third party agency. The ideal candidate should have a high level of technical understanding of ESPs (particularly Salesforce Marketing Cloud) and should be both detail and solution oriented with strong problem solving skills.


We all wear many hats, but here is the you can expect in your primary role:

  • Set up, execute and maintain complex email marketing campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud.

  • Understand logic & the back-end execution for list pull/one-time deployments

  • Understand logic & the back-end execution for ongoing cadence programs & API-triggered emails

  • Develop business/technical understanding of our email deployment platforms.

  • Exist as an escalation point for identified critical issues and notifications

  • Follow guidelines and instructions with a flawless attention to detail

  • Maintain and improve process documentation with an eye to efficiency and effectiveness

  • Work closely with teams to optimize processes and leverage our technology-based capabilities

  • Demonstrates strong familiarity with email best practices

  • Troubleshooting and problem solving skills (diagnosis, assessment, recommendations & escalation)

  • Support and contribute to a positive work environment

  • Work with minimal supervision in an environment that leverages Trello and scrum-based methods.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to recommend improvements, plan future implementations, and build scalable processes


Here are a few things we are looking for you to bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred in marketing, technology, computer science, or information systems

  • 4+ years experience with ESPs, preferably Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Oracle Responsys (Certifications are a plus, but are not required)

  • Understanding of the methodologies to create email communications

  • Advanced technical knowledge of SQL, AMPscript (or similar), JourneyBuilder (or other journey-based automation systems)
    Basic technical knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript a big plus

  • Ability to handle more than one project and prioritize workloads under strict deadlines, while keeping colleagues and clients informed of the status

  • A solid understanding of CAN-SPAM compliance requirements

  • Consumer marketing experience is a strong plus

  • Analytical and logical problem solving skills

  • Proficiency working with Google Docs, spreadsheets, Trello, Slack, and other productivity tools

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Effective troubleshooting skills; including escalation, resolution, and follow-up

  • Demonstrated ability to function as a self-starter

  • Ability to work on a team, as well as independently, in a fast-paced environment

The salary for this exempt-level position will be based on experience and qualifications within an established pay range. Benefits include 85% employer paid medical, eligibility to participate in vision and dental insurance as well company paid STD, LTD coverage plus a flat amount company paid toward Basic Life and AD&D, as well as a generous 401(k) retirement contribution plan eligible after 90-days of employment.


Working Conditions:


We operate as a work, not live, from anywhere model and utilize the office space as a co-working space where you can come in as needed. That said, whether in the office or at a remote location, we try to operate in the traditional office norm model. . You will be working with a computer, telephone, copier, or other office equipment as necessary for long stretches of time. There may be some occasional long, irregular hours. You are expected to communicate effectively (verbal and written), and maintain professionalism under stress. Occasionally you will need to bend, pull, push and/or reach to access job-related materials. You will also be expected to work with frequent interruptions such as Slack messages, emails, phone calls, drive-by visits to your desk, whether that is from a co-worker at the office or your dog barking while working remotely.
