We are seeking an expert to work on a project related to biomedical data and statistical genetics with the main focus on DNA methylation datasets.
The ideal applicant requires a master's degree in any area of Statistics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics, and possesses a strong interest and skills to work with biomedical data, perform Bayesian analysis and statistical programming.
This job requires skills in programming (C++ and R, Rcpp), adequate knowledge in Bayesian Statistics and Monte Carlo Markov Chains (MCMC), and an interest in working directly with knowledge discovery from large biological datasets.
Following skills/knowledge are great assets: strong programming skills in C++, parallel computing, R software; experience working on, or knowledge in functional data analysis, nonparametric regression and kernel density estimation, bisulfite sequencing data, MCMC (Gibbs sampling, Metropolis-Hastings algorithms), False Discovery Rate.
Upon hiring, the applicant will work to provide efficient yet fast R and C++ codes for simulation studies and real data analysis on DNA methylation data that arise from the bisulfite sequencing technology.
The applicant must be ready to quickly implement any changes in the statistical models and methodology, should it deemed necessary.
The R, Rcpp, and C++ codes will eventually be wrapped in an R package similar to the DMCFB package in Bioconductor.
