Enterprise Systems Software Architect

OCP is a self-supporting, not-for-profit, Catholic publishing company that produces the highest-quality worship programs and spiritually-enriching music. We are looking for a talented and experienced software developer to help OCP transition into a digital company. As an Architect, you will put your knowledge of ERP systems, software development and Azure platforms into solutions that consist of a hybrid of custom/prebuilt software. You will work closely with developers, IT management, and the CIO to present solutions that help guide high-level decisions throughout the design process.


The Software Architect (Enterprise/Applications) is responsible for the creation, maintenance and management of IT architecture models and their lower-level components related to OCP’s enterprise systems, integration with OCP’s vendor systems or customer facing application technologies depending on the area of assignment. They will partner closely with other IT Architects to establish solid interfaces between business and customer systems.

The Software Architect will also provide technical leadership within the IT department, cultivate a highly collaborative environment, and actively engage in the software development process. In addition, they will be responsible for designing, presenting solution options, and implementing software solutions to address complex business issues. They are expected to create inspirational example applications and model best practices in their own work. They will be responsible for leading change management towards modern development technologies and implementation approaches.


  • Provide subject matter expertise in the areas of enterprise systems, cloud services, integrations, microservices, and development technologies and tools used in the OCP computing environments.
  • Work with IT and business stakeholders in the company to build a vision for software, platforms, applications, and skillsets.
  • Work closely with the other Architects and IT management to maintain a technology roadmap consistent with industry trends, company needs, and company vision.
  • Evaluate and provide technically sound solutions for system integration, testing, sustainability, and feasibility.
  • Perform research and develop concept applications for IT decision making.
  • Advise the CIO and IT Managers on technology options and directions.
  • Advocate for high quality customer experiences, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Suggest and recommend solutions for process improvements.
  • Adhere to requirements and guidelines for quality, security, and extensibility.
  • Analyzes and models features, data, specifications, and business processes to solve technological issues and challenges.
  • Architects, develops, implements, tests, deploys, and supports new and existing system properties consistent with company standards and industry norms.
  • Manages and administers server-based applications as well as deploys programming code and databases (development, staging, and production environments).
  • Proactively facilitates, supports, and mentors the daily efforts of regular staff as well as project contractors and vendors.
  • Writes and provides excellent documentation of work processes and system configurations in company standard formats.


  • Monitors and maintains online production (live) systems 24x7 which may require additional efforts during widespread outages and as part of the after-hours and weekend rotating on-call coverage.
  • Surveys and prototypes technological solutions related to ERP systems, music publishing and OCP's online properties.
  • Evangelizes and trains OCP personnel on current and emerging technologies.
  • Documents and implements database and searching solutions to enable online properties.
  • Collaborates in the implementation and maintenance of Information Technology Division initiatives including business systems, networking, applications, and server support.
. Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or equivalent advanced experience specializing in software development, programming, or database implementation.
  • Strong team player, leadership, and time management skills. Seen by peers as a mentor and solid communicator.
  • Ten or more years professional software development experience (at least 5 years in ERP, online, web, or mobile development).
  • Proven experience programming in modern commercial languages such as C#, PHP, Java, and .Net.
  • Proven experience in cloud-based technologies with Azure, including serverless application design, microservices, and event driven architectures.
  • Advanced skills in object-oriented programming, programming code standards, programming design patterns, system architecture and utilizing REST API’s.
  • Significant exposure to HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, content management systems, user authentication systems, mobile platforms, and e-commerce technologies.
  • Experience with integration to enterprise systems, utilizing asynchronous event driven solutions to reach eventual concurrency with customer facing applications.
  • Experience with data modeling and implementation using enterprise relational database systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to approach with curiosity, think creatively, collaborate to find solutions, solve problems, and advocate the changes needed to implement solutions.
  • Advanced analytical skills dealing with complex data problems and implementing realistic solutions.
  • Advanced experience developing and/or leading multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
