REPORTS TO : SMD, Content Strategy & Head of Social Media
We are seeking a digital art director to play a critical leadership role in translating our brand into a visual style to help drive demand, adoption, and affinity for Teach For America’s programs and products. You will be responsible for direction to elevate the organization’s strategic thinking about design and will work closely with your fellow marketers, writers, and designers to deliver meaningful, data-driven, on-strategy creative.
You are a highly creative and imaginative individual who can operate within the framework of our brand to produce original, provocative, and engaging visual content. You have a strong portfolio of successful work, a desire to push creative concepts, and a comprehensive grasp of digital marketing channels. You will have the ability to thrive in a cross-disciplinary environment and to shepherd projects from ideas to completion. You must be able to work both independently and collaboratively, and be able to advocate for and present your creative and strategic point of view.
Serve as creative lead on cross-functional projects
Leads on the design and production for social media graphics, developing concepts by hand or with software, and execute original content determining ideal usage of color, text, font style, imagery, and layout
Push personal design development and design culture across the team. Drive conceptual thinking, promote proactive action and show exemplary leadership and thoughtful partnership.
Lead and/or participate in brainstorm meetings to develop campaign/large project concepts
Establish the conceptual and stylistic direction for deliverables to meet project objectives across digital (websites, digital ads, email campaigns and templates) and occasionally print channels
Present proposed design solutions to our partner teams giving clear, thoughtful explanations of our work while demonstrating we listened and understood their objectives and goals.
Reviews and directs work of project teams, taking quality of design, strategic accuracy, and adherence to partner goals and brand style guidelines into account.
Ensure that the scope and creative brief is clear and agreed upon, driving discussions to clarify, if necessary.
Ensure that data, insights, and analytics are being leveraged across projects to inform creative solutions
Maintain relationships and clearly communicate with freelance designers, vendors, photographers, and illustrators to deliver on-strategy, high quality products within budget.
Mentor other designers– supporting team growth and development and help identify industry trends to inform our work.
THE MUST HAVES
Bachelors degree in graphic design or equivalent work experience
7+ years experience with design software, including Adobe Creative Suite; experience with HTML, CSS, and After Effects design skills
Previous experience working with Salesforce Marketing Cloud or other marketing automation tools preferred
Managerial experience preferred; ability to foster fun, safe, work environment where dissenting opinions are welcomed, team members feel comfortable being themselves, and feedback is given fairly and appropriately
Proven experience with graphic design, especially within an agency context, with a strong portfolio of work
Juggles multiple projects at once while delivering quality assets
Conceptual and visual storyteller. Creates visual content to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate customers and visitors. Brings a unified brand voice to marketing.
Pushes the limits of design with an orientation towards platform, UX, audience, strategy and brand goals to achieve success
Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment, working closely with project managers, audience strategists, copywriters, email marketers, social media experts, and others
Demonstrated ability to drive projects forward autonomously from inception to completion
Organizational and time-management skills; thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times
Deep expertise with Adobe Creative Suite
