Senior Director - Enterprise Data Products and Operations
As the senior technical leader for the data office, reporting to the VP of Data Governance, the Sr. Director of Enterprise Data Solutions establishes and orchestrates technical solutions that serve as the backbone for corporate data governance, data management, data integration, and data availability. This position is responsible for directing enterprise data architecture, solution design, systems analysis, data modeling, data product implementation, quality assurance, data storage, data delivery, data quality and monitoring, data application management, data systems support and maintenance. Additionally the position is expected to provide input on Data Literacy program development, support business development and capture efforts and contribute to inform company stakeholders with data Governance strategy and execution and be an ambassador for data governance at all levels of the organization.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish, lead, and mentor diverse technical teams consisting of
managers, architects, systems analysts, data engineers,
integration engineers, support engineers, and quality assurance
engineers.
  • Oversee and drive architecture for enterprise data solutions.
  • Select and implement enterprise data applications, platforms, and
frameworks.
  • Implement tools and technology to support strategic objectives.
  • Direct management and support of enterprise data applications
and associated infrastructure.
  • Institute centralized data storage, delivery, modeling, and
integration; facilitate creation and maintenance of a corporate data
catalog.
  • Promote the following qualities in all solutions: scalability,
maintainability, security, reliability, extensibility, flexibility,
availability, and manageability.
  • Ensure enterprise data solutions adhere to all corporate standards
and legal requirements.
  • Enforce structured approaches and methodologies that align with
the key strategies of the data office.
  • Oversee ongoing support and maintenance of deployed solutions.

The position is explicitly responsible for the following areas:

  • Data Architecture: Overall structure of data and data-related
resources as an integral part of the enterprise architecture
  • Data Modeling & Systems Design: Analysis, design, building,
testing, and maintenance
  • Data Integration: Acquisition, extraction, transformation,
movement, delivery, replication, federation, virtualization and
operational support
  • Data Storage: Structured physical data assets storage deployment
and management
  • Data Quality/Data Integrity: Defining, monitoring, maintaining data
integrity, and improving data quality.
  • Data Security: Ensuring privacy, confidentiality and appropriate
access

Education and Experience:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Master's degree in a directly relevant technical field, e.g., Computer
Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology,
etc.
  • 20+ years of broad and deep technical experience relevant to
enterprise data solutions. This should include: enterprise software
development, enterprise architecture, data architecture, database
administration, cloud technologies and design patterns, data
center operations, data integration, data storage, data warehouses
and data lakes, DevOps, application management, SDLC and agile
methodologies, infrastructure management, information security,
maintenance and support.
  • 15+ years in a technical lead and/or architect role.
  • 15+ years of relevant management experience with a proven track
record growing and leading technical teams and organizations.
  • Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of enterprise data
integration, software engineering, and SDLC processes specific to
enterprise data solutions.
  • Broad knowledge and direct experience with enterprise
applications and supporting infrastructure.
  • Strong relationship management skills and the ability to effectively
communicate (including written, verbal, and visual) at all
organizational levels: customer, team member, management, and
executive.
  • A broad, enterprise-wide view of the business, with understanding
of: strategy, processes and capabilities, enabling technologies, and
governance.
  • Extensive experience planning and executing technical initiatives
supporting a large organization.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake a wide variety of challenging
tasks.
  • Superior decision making and critical thinking ability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience implementing cloud solutions, specifically cloud data
infrastructure, with transition experience from on-premise to cloud
environment a plus.
  • Data as a Service (DaaS) strategy and implementation experience a
plus.
  • Event stream and microservice architecture data strategy
experience
  • Working within a highly matrixed organization while focusing on
the realization of key strategic objectives;
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with best in class data
management tools and data strategy design.
  • Experience developing cloud-native data and usage pricing
strategies, with on-premise conversation and ROI experience
  • Extensive vendor management experience: procurement,
contracting/negotiating, task order/deliverables management, etc.
  • Ability to convert business strategy into action-oriented objectives
and measurable results.
  • Ability to develop and manage a multimillion dollar budget.

  • 12-15 years of related professional experience required.
  • Master's degree in a directly relevant technical field, e.g., Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, etc. strongly preferred.
  • 20+ years of broad and deep technical experience relevant to enterprise data solutions preferred. This should include: enterprise software development, enterprise architecture, data architecture, database administration, cloud technologies and design patterns, data center operations, data integration, data storage, data warehouses and data lakes, DevOps, application management, SDLC and agile methodologies, infrastructure management, information security, maintenance and support.
  • 15+ years in a technical lead and/or architect role.
