Position Overview

The Supervisor, Data Management supports the mission of OCHIN by leading, training, and motivating the Data Management team to achieve positive outcomes and continuously add value to the OCHIN collaborative. This work entails managing projects, prioritizing work providing feedback, managing performance, identifying and mitigating risks, and ensuring high quality service to the OCHIN collaborative. The Supervisor, Data Management will continually assess and make improvements to systems and processes to increase efficiency while judiciously managing the resources of OCHIN and our Members (Service Areas). This position will also actively participate in data management activities as a database administrator and developer.

Essential Duties

Supervisory Duties

  • Lead, motivate, develop, and support a team of administrators and developers to meet both organizational and member needs
  • Support the Manager, Data Services and the Data Management Team in developing effective workflows, solving and mitigating complex issues and maintaining valuable relationships.
  • Collaborate with leadership to ensure timelines and deliverables are realistic and actionable.
  • Plan effective learning deliverables for annual forums and applicable conferences to nurture partner learning.
  • Ensure new staff are on-boarded in a measured manner that prepares them for success.
  • Manage projects, programs, and work activities of the Data Management team, ensuring deliverables are met on time and on budget
  • Track and measure team, project, and individual performance goals.
  • Work with team to identify, document, and implement potential process improvements.
  • Review, define, and support improvements efforts
  • Ensure team members have the support they need to succeed; provide individual guidance, seek out information, and facilitate relationships to ensure team members’ support needs are met

Database Administrator Duties

  • Assist in performing day to day management of databases and database platforms
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining the security of databases and database software in cooperation with the Systems Administrator
  • Provide backup support
  • Provide db/log backup/recovery and replication
  • Carry out Database and OS tuning
  • Generate development of DTS/SSIS packages
  • Create and maintain database documentation, including ER diagrams, stored procedure listings and descriptions, and usage and performance statistics
  • Provide technical support to developers
  • Participate in long-term systems architecture planning
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Developer Duties

  • Database development and maintenance

    • Design and implement new database schemas
    • Design, implement and maintain database stored procedures
    • Optimize batch processing
    • Design and implement strategies for assuring data quality
    • Participate in long term database architecture planning
    • Participate in database related code review
  • Clarity Replication management
    • Perform routine maintenance and monitoring
    • Manage and improve performance and scalability
    • Complete new subscriber implementations
  • Additional Functions
    • Create, maintain, and document complex reports, stored procedures, and data processes
    • Analyze, propose, and implement improvements to BI processes
    • Quickly respond to unexpected organizational needs for data analysis
    • Extract Development and Maintenance
      • Develop file-based data extracts
      • Create the necessary SOWs for extract projects
      • Maintain data extracts
      • Improve or modify data extract processes as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive growth in field; three (3) years of Supervisory experience or Leadership roles within teams highly preferred;
  • Successful leadership abilities with the focus on bringing people together to execute needs;
  • Strong communication skills –speaking and delivering messages clearly as well as listening and understanding other’s needs;
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills (i.e. using sound judgment of when to delegate tasks and when to roll up one’s sleeves and work with the team to get it done);
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience in related field preferred;
  • Extensive experience in database design and implementation, query tuning and optimization
  • Experience with Intersystem Cache DBMS a plus
  • Experience developing and maintaining data feeds using DTS/SSIS packages
  • Certifications/ Proficiency Epic’s Clarity Administration and/or MCSA Certification version 2012 or newer a plus
  • C#, .Net, SQL (ANSI or other) and Object-Oriented Development skills is desired;
  • Exposure to MSSQL, Visual Studio and other Microsoft products desired;
  • Knowledge of and experience in the Health Care industry a plus

  • This position is 100% remote. Work from home requirements are:

    • Travel may be required based on business requirements for OCHIN
