The Graphic Designer supports Public Relations, Creative, Marketing, Engagement (PCME) by creating visual communications to convey messages while consistently meeting deadlines and requirements. The Graphic Designer will create graphics for packaging and promotional materials which include direct mail pieces, flyers, posters, banners, icons, e-newsletters, power point presentations, websites, social media pages and more. The Graphic Designer collaborates with the Creative Director and the Web Developer to design website mockups on updating existing and new websites, produce assets for websites, social media, and front-end development. By following CSD brand guidelines, the Graphic Designer will capture target audiences and communicate the right message through creative flair and translate requirements into design.

Essential Functions

  • Conceptualize and implement design solutions that meet marketing strategies
  • Works with various departments within CSD to design and develop materials according to their needs in a timely manner
  • Develops artwork in a variety of mediums to support various internal company objectives and external clients
  • Supplies logos, icons, templates, and graphics in approved formats consistent with branding guidelines on request
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering necessary information and materials, and form concepts by studying information and requirements
  • Illustrates concepts by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts
  • Obtains approval of concept by submitting rough layout for approval
  • Prepares finished copy and art by working with clients and vendors for final output such as printing or placement
  • Contacts vendors to gather, analyze and recommend competitive prices on best quality materials; follows up on orders placed
  • Completes projects by coordinating with outside vendors, printers, and other collaborators and businesses; collaborate with outside vendors so that they complete projects according to CSD and external clients branding and preference specifications
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related projects as needed
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

To perform the essential functions of this position successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Knowledge of Graphic Design software and visual principles to produce creative assets and take the lead on layouts
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Google Slides, Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, or Sketch app
  • Demonstrated portfolio showing creative, design and software skills
  • Skill in creative instinct for translating complex, often technical information into simple, visually engaging, and easily understandable designs in a variety of media
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Self-starter and multitasker across multiple projects and clients in a fast-paced and team-based environment


  • HS Graduate or GED; Certificate or bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent professional experience (PREFERRED)
  • 1-2 years of experience with WordPress templates
  • 3-5 years of hands-on professional design experience, preferably with a Marketing or Creative Agency
  • Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language
  • Working knowledge of Canva (PREFERRED)

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

This position is moderately self-directed and requires understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures, and values. The position works in a virtual office environment utilizing a computer and standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required interact collaboratively with the team and stakeholders, and communicate via phone, videophone, or text messaging. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The position may require travel up to 5%.
