What will our Sr. DevOps Engineer Do?

When you’re tapping into a $200B market, growth comes at you fast, and as you’d expect, so does the need for scale. But we understand that scale is really a two-way path when it comes to resourcing. It’s not just about being ready to handle massive spikes in demand, but about being able to efficiently scale it back. It’s that understanding of system flexibility and resource efficiency that we’re looking for in our next DevOps engineer.

  • The Sr. DevOps Engineer will work with our Director of Engineering and principal engineers to help scale our resources comfortably, and provide another set of eyes for our evolving architecture, systems, and infrastructure.
  • At its core this role is about taking a cloud-native approach to creating responsive automated solutions that incorporate security and testing from the outset.
  • As part of the engineering team, you’ll form the core of a technology platform that helps small business owners finally get the responsive insurance service they deserve.

Superpowers we are looking for!

  • 3+ years serving as a DevOps engineer in Cloud-based environment (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • 2 years of relevant experience working in Microsoft Azure Cloud environments
  • 1 year experience with the GitHub Actions platform.
  • 2 years experience with Infra-as-Code environments and tools (Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, CloudFormation, Chef, Puppet, SaltStack, Ansible, etc…)
  • Experience with Kubernetes Services with container-based deployment skills
  • Hands on experience with CI/CD tools and processes
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python ,Shell, PowerShell)

Extras that are awesome but not required!

  • Understanding of cloud security such as Access Identity Management and Security Group
  • Fluency in C# (.net core) or other OO language.
  • Experience with automating Integration and Unit-testing

What to expect!

Our hiring process generally consists of 3 phases.

  • Phase 1: Qualified candidates will first meet with HR for a phone interview. This discussion is a high-level conversation to understand more about your background and interests and for us to share more about Coterie and the position.
  • Phase 2: Selected candidates will then meet our Director of Engineering for the 2nd interview via video. This interview is designed to be more technically focused and allows you to learn more about the role.
  • Phase 3: Top candidates will receive an invite for our final interview series via video. This series will include a 60 minute panel interview with our Engineering team where candidates can choose their own adventure! You will have the choice of a whiteboarding session, live coding session or come prepared to present a preplanned take-home project. Additionally, we will have a 1:1 culture focused interview. The final series is roughly 1.5 hours in length.
