DevOps Engineer - Kubernetes (Remote Option)

Location: Boston, MA area (East Coast Remote option)


Metric5 is currently seeking a DevOps Engineer to join a growing team on an exciting and highly visible project for a DoD customer. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering PaaS and infrastructure migration solutions to support the organization.

As a DevOps Engineer you will share your knowledge and hands-on experience in developing, implementing, maintaining and supporting the PaaS project with the team. The successful candidate will have subject matter expertise in Platform engineering and orchestration with Kubernetes and Terraform in an agile environment.


As a DevOps Engineer you will:

  • Have 5-7 years expertise with Kubernetes
  • Be responsible for the overall PaaS platform stability, scalability, enhancements, and development
  • Oversee platform operations and platform development teams to ensure secure implementation strategies
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities across platform operations and platform development teams
  • Provide technical leadership on major tasks and platform assignments
  • Support application development teams to provide automation and tooling required to quickly deploy and manage applications, while allowing application to have operational visibility

Required Skills:

  • Strong expertise in Platform Engineering with Kubernetes and Terraform
  • 2+ years of experience leading teams building and developing containerized services deployed in production on orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
  • 2+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
  • Experience writing and deploying applications to Kubernetes using Helm charts
  • Experience implementing and using Kubernetes Operators and Custom Resource Definitions
  • 2+ years of experience building production services using Cloud Infrastructure Providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud

Desired Skills:

  • Highly Desired is Security + Certification
  • 2+ years of experience building developer platform services and APIs that scale in production
  • 2+ years of experience building production services using Cloud Infrastructure Providers such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Manage, report, and facilitate certification of access for all in-scope resources (including SaaS, AWS, Azure, CSS managed applications, tools, and systems)

Education: Bachelors in a Technical Discipline – Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent technical degree

Certifications: SEC+ highly desired

Years of Experience: 3+ years of experience or more

Clearance: Secret level required
