The Workforce Evolution team is seeking a Front End Engineer to join our cross-functional team of software engineers, product and program managers, and designers to help turn big ideas into practical solutions at scale. This role is focused on Associate users (hourly employees of Amazon); you will have the opportunity to help define the customer experience of Associate scheduling. As a software development engineer on Hamilton, you will have the opportunity to be agile, learn and use React, AWS and Amazon technologies from all over the company, and build amazing native and web products at the heart of Amazon's value proposition to its employees in order to make life better for hundreds of thousands of fellow Amazonians.

Key job responsibilities
  • Build new scheduling experiences to support over 1 million Amazon hourly employees using React Web and Native technologies.
  • Refine existing experiences from both a technical and product perspective.
  • Interpret and refine requirements by collaborating with Product Managers, UX Designers, and fellow engineers.
  • Mentor more junior engineers on the team

A day in the life
All engineers participate in a daily standup, sharing what they did yesterday, what they plan to do today, and any challenges or issues they'd like to discuss as a group. You will likely begin by predominantly seeking help but will eventually provide help to others; our team is very collaborative and delivers well together. The rest of your day will mostly be spent delivering pieces of a larger project by coding, but will occasionally include activities such as group brainstorming sessions, retrospectives, sprint planning, technical design reviews, candidate interviews, UX design reviews, and even technical learning courses.

Workforce Evolution builds flexible scheduling solutions to improve the lives of our hourly employees. Our software allows employees to drop or trade shifts when life events come up, or request permanent schedule changes, transfers, or cross-training opportunities when they are no longer happy with their current role.

  • 4+ years of professional front end development
  • Experience with React Native
  • Experience building reusable UX components or libraries
  • Strong UX skills; ability to work collaboratively with and user research partners
  • Experience building scalable, distributed, front-end experiences
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • An appetite for learning

The pay range for this position in Colorado is $143k - $194k/yr however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
