We are looking for someone to be the point person in our front-end development team. Our ideal candidate has a clear and pragmatic understanding of design systems and front-end development technologies. Candidates must be excellent communicators whose primary goal is to raise the bar for our hard-working team. Our work environment provides high levels of independence and trust, while offering a supportive and friendly environment for collaboration and mutual support. The Lead UI/UX Developer will get to apply their expert knowledge of advanced front-end techniques and see these best practices realized in heavily trafficked websites and applications. This is a remote position, with daily video calls for checking in and collaboration. Screen sharing is often necessary for presenting progress, troubleshooting, or pair programming. Because of this, we place a premium on how you present yourself. The ability to convey awareness and respect in written and visual communication is crucial. We also require that our team members create a distraction-free workspace with a robust internet connection.

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of Front-end technologies including:

_ HTML - Markup, Accessibility, System Design (ie: Atomic Design)_
_ SCSS - Class-naming techniques, and/or SMA for structuring code into skinnable components, OOCSS, TailwindCSS or other CSS architecting tools_
_ JavaScript - Vanilla JS, React component building, Redux, Webpack or other compilers, Typescript (highly valuable but not required)_

  • Application-level understanding of SCSS and component architecture
  • Strong interest in design and coding principles
  • Self-driven problem solving ability
  • Practical desire to use code to improve team productivity
  • Proficiency at leveraging templating languages such as Shopify liquid, handlebars, blade, etc.
  • Holds high standards for quality documentation and code comments
  • Likes collaborating with junior developers and non-engineering teammates
  • Ability to get and work with structured RESTful data
  • Great communication skills
  • Basic understanding of the SDLC

Nice to Have:

Experience working on Shopify stores

  • Experience with Liquid themes
  • Understanding of the Shopify back-end
  • Experience working with Shopify APIs and private apps will get preference.


  • Take a leadership role in maintaining code standards for all customer-facing properties
  • Develop forward-looking strategies for maintaining code quality while boosting efficiency
  • implement new code and features
  • Provide guidance and support for junior developers who will be held to these standards
  • Be part of a front-line team maintaining high-volume customer-facing ecommerce experiences
  • Work across departments to accomplish shared goals
  • Complete deliverables at or before scheduled due dates
  • Implement valid, semantic, accessible, and performant code
  • Ensure that customer-facing interfaces maintain fidelity to design
