Meet the Marketplace Team
The Marketplace team is responsible for the design, growth and evolution of Rover’s core browse marketplaces. We are a team of analysts, product managers, data scientists and engineers. Our work ranges from algorithmic development and machine learning to creating, testing, and releasing core user-facing marketplace features. We also support all experimentation and A/B testing across Rover, and provide deep analytics and data science support to product managers and business owners throughout the organization. Our mission is to delightfully and efficiently connect pet owners and pet sitters with the best match for their needs.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Marketplace team to help with this mission. From breaking down requirements and writing implementation plans, to building the features and launching them - you will be a key player in our efforts to delight our customers. We're Looking for Someone Who:

    • Have empathy for users and enjoy building customer-facing products that improve people's and pet's lives!
    • Bring their own unique background to the team, adding fresh ideas and perspectives
    • Are able to take loose requirements, collaborate with others to determine what needs to be done, and drive a project forward
    • Are eager to improve their craft as a software engineer and is excited to learn new technologies and work in a next generation frontend architecture
    • Are equally eager to share their knowledge and help foster a culture of learning
    • Enjoys being part of a great community of pet lovers

Your Qualifications:

    • 5+ years as a professional software developer
    • Excited to learn new things and take on big challenges with the support of Rover’s Engineering community
    • Some experience as a professional software developer is preferred, but let’s talk
    • Comfort working in different parts of the stack
    • Familiarity with relational databases and schema design
    • Rigor in automated testing, code quality, and engineering best practices
    • Intuition for when to call it "good enough", and when to put in the extra time to polish
    • Aligned with Rover Core Values
    • Plus: Experience with any of the technologies we support - Python/Django, React/Redux, Elasticsearch
    • Plus: Experience working with data scientists to implement algorithms and models
