About the job

As a Game Developer, you'd have the flexibility to work remotely and from anywhere. MELON operates as a leader in the space for virtual experiences, helping power virtual worlds that host hundreds of thousands of users. We're a multi-platform-focused company currently producing experience in partnership with Roblox.

You would be taking a driver-seat role in running the development and production of our client-facing experiences. From virtual concerts to sports launch parties, all the way to competitive shooters and platforming worlds. We cover it all, and your involvement would be highly valued.

Depending on experience, there may be possibilities of moving into more of a full-time role.

We focus on always being transparent and clear on all requests and expectations and are also huge advocates of a proper work-life balance. We'd never expect around-the-clock availability, and we encourage you to find a schedule that fits you best.

Someone in either the PDT or EDT timezone is preferred, but we're flexible if you're elsewhere and can align your schedule.

Some examples of what requests could be...

  • Producing our "Verchandise" (Virtual Good) products
  • Creating in-game stores, UI, and experience frameworks
  • Building systems and player management tools
  • Creating minigame experiences and interactive elements with a solid touch

You don't need to be a Game Designer!

About you
You do not need to work with us exclusively or relocate.

You should have a deep understanding of Game Development. In addition, you should have a skillset in LUA, especially in multi-player, highly-optimized environments. Existing experience with the Roblox platform is an excellent additional benefit.

We're looking for candidates who are extremely organized with a lot of self-drive. We don't believe in micromanaging, and you'll have a lot of flexibility in the way you organize and execute your work. It would help if you were in North America or be able to adjust your schedule to accommodate.

You should have some experience in gaming or tech. We'd love your input on things if you have preferences toward certain matters. While not required, someone who enjoys what they do and what we do as a company is a valuable addition to the team.

You should have a track record of successful roles or relevant experience, showing you can be organized, on time, and persistent. Experience as a similar title would be great but not necessarily required if you have a similar experience.

It would be best if you had excellent English, both spoken and written. We do not require college-level literacy, but someone who can be concise, direct, and friendly is perfect.

You should be familiar with using meeting software, communication software, and task management software in a team environment.

This is a remote role. Work from your home office, co-working space, coffee shop, airport, or a beach in Bora Bora. As long as tasks can be completed when expected and the job is done well, it's totally cool.

MELON aims to pay competitively no matter where you're located. New hires start as Contractors with room to move up. Pay is available at $50/hr and up based on experience and skillset.
