Java Developer - Bioinformatics

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to the design, development, validation, and presentation of cutting-edge techniques in mass-spectrometry and bioinformatics
- Improve, extend, and fix bugs in Java-based desktop applications
- Design or modify user interfaces and data visualizations to help scientists interpret their data
- Design, modify, and optimize complex algorithms
- Develop automated tests and internal documentation
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Bachelors or advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field
- Critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and solve complex analytical problems
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to verbally communicate with a customer base composed of biomedical researchers
- Demonstrated proficiency developing code in an object-oriented language (Java preferred)
Preference given to:
- Working knowledge of bioinformatic concepts and statistics
- Understanding of mass spectrometry, proteomics and/or metabolomics
- Experience working on large software projects and/or legacy code
- Experience with high-performance data processing, multithreading, or asynchronous programming
- Understanding of distributed version control systems (e.g., Git, Mercurial, etc.)
- Resident of Oregon or Washington

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
