Java Developer - Bioinformatics

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to the design, development, validation, and presentation of cutting-edge techniques in mass-spectrometry and bioinformatics
• Improve, extend, and fix bugs in Java-based desktop applications
• Design or modify user interfaces and data visualizations to help scientists interpret their data
• Design, modify, and optimize complex algorithms
• Develop automated tests and internal documentation

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Bachelors or advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related field
• Critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and solve complex analytical problems
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to verbally communicate with a customer base composed of biomedical researchers
• Demonstrated proficiency developing code in an object-oriented language (Java preferred)

Preference given to:

• Working knowledge of bioinformatic concepts and statistics
• Understanding of mass spectrometry, proteomics and/or metabolomics
• Experience working on large software projects and/or legacy code
• Experience with high-performance data processing, multithreading, or asynchronous programming
• Understanding of distributed version control systems (e.g., Git, Mercurial, etc.)

• Resident of Oregon or Washington

Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
