Your Job

As a Software Engineering Manager at Indeed, you will provide hands-on leadership of a team of developers building integrations to partner systems. You will both contribute directly to building integrations, act as the point of contact for reviewing technical documentation for potential new integrations, and manage a combination of employees and contractors to deliver integrations.

You are comfortable learning new things on the fly and helping your team learn unfamiliar systems and technology. You make pragmatic technology decisions to balance scalability, speed to market, and long-term maintainability. You document implementations effectively and work with internal and external stakeholders to validate integrations and deliver them to customers.

The team:
The Invitation Quality team at Indeed helps people get jobs by ensuring high quality and relevant jobseeker contacts across Resume Search, Invite to Apply, and Messaging platforms. Indeed helps millions of jobseekers and employers worldwide connect each month, and the Invitation Quality team works across Indeed to ensure job seekers and employers are connected to relevant and qualified jobs. Team is also responsible for establishing Pricing for Job Seeker contacts and ensuring Marketplace Health. The product will fall under the Jobseeker GM organization, but will act as a “marketplace” oriented team, and be expected to work extremely closely with teams across GMs.

You are passionate about solving interesting and complex problems through ideation and using data (the right data!) to make informed decisions. You have delivered challenging technical solutions. You have led engineering teams and earned the respect of talented software developers. You are equally happy talking algorithms and data structures as you are brainstorming about agile development process and technology career development. You want to be in the mix technically while providing leadership to your teams. As our engineering organization grows, you will help ensure we keep the talent bar high and grow the skills and capabilities of your team.

    • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a closely related computer technical field with 5+ years experience programming with at least one of the following languages: Java, C++, C#, Python, Go, or Perl;
    • 5+ years of experience in leading software development with a consistent track record of on-time delivery for large, cross-functional projects
    • 3+ years of people management and direct coaching of software developers, helping them improve their skills and grow their careers
    • Significant prior success as a Software Engineer working on challenging problems
    • Experience advising your team on architecture and implementation of software problems
    • Solid cross functions and cross organization communication and people skills
    • An understanding of the value derived from shipping code rapidly to production and learning/iterating on the results.
    • Experience with service-oriented architectures, APIs including GraphQL, gRPC, Protobuf, REST, SQL and NoSQL building high throughput applications
    • Continuously improve team processes to balance delivery velocity, individual growth, software quality, and technical innovation & growth
  • Preferred skills:
    • Experience building high performance, sclable, high throughput applications with service-oriented architecture
    • Experience building Big Data Applications using Spark/Scala, Apache Hive
    • Experience with AWS technologies like S3, EMR, AWS Glue, Cloud Formation, etc.

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include quarterly bonuses, Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), an open Paid Time Off policy, and many region-specific benefits.

Austin 132,000 - 192,000 USD per year
