OnStar Insurance was launched in 2020 and will be in all US states by end of 2022. OnStar Insurance Services intends to leverage its unique understanding of the vehicles GM produces to offer a secure, fair, personalized, and easy-to-use digital insurance experience for drivers. GM has the largest connected vehicle fleet worldwide. In the US alone, there are currently 9M+ connected GM vehicles on the road and that number is projected to triple in the next 10 years. More than that, the OnStar system currently has access to over 900 data points from the vehicle. This surge in information about vehicles and how they are driven will revolutionize auto insurance. This disruption is backed by the bold GM vision of zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion. We are serious about the safety and financial security of our customers.

Job Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Knowledge Graph Architectis to design and implementing solutions involving graph and semantic technologies - including advanced data management and analytics, and AI/ML feature development. As an Architect, you will significantly contribute to identifying best-fit architectural solutions for one or more projects; you will collaborate with some of the best talent in the industry to create and implement innovative high-quality insurance solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide architectural solutions/designs to project execution teams for implementation.
  • Provide technology architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for big data and artificial intelligence.
  • Sound understanding of Knowledge Representation and Semantic Technologies (OWL, LPG, RDF, SWRL, SPARQL, JSON-LD) including semantic modelling and data integration, data unification, knowledge graph design, ontology and taxonomy.
  • Work with application developers, users, operational leadership, and subject matter experts to understand current and futureoperational data analysis goals. Recommend modern technology stacks to meet those goals and help engineering teams migrate towards their use.
  • Collaboratewith operations and technology leadershipon the future analytic goals of the organization and design a data architecture to meet those goals. Participate in configuring the architecture and advise engineering teams on its efficient use.
  • Lead a work stream or act as a team lead and manage complex components of the work plan/project.
  • Utilize analytical, process, and/or technical skills to meet project objectives and deliverables that are self-directed and within project scope.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of programming experience with Java and Python.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data consulting, enterprise and solutions architecture and/or architectural frameworks.
  • At least 5 years of experience with machine learning, natural language processing, predictive analytics, and data science related technologies.
  • Demonstrable expertise with Graph/Triple Stores and related technologies, e.g. PoolParty, Stardog, TigerGraph, Ontotext GraphDB, Grakn, MarkLogic, Metaphactory, Neo4j.
  • Experience in defining new architectures and ability to drive an independent project from an architectural and implementation standpoint.
  • Understanding of data/information architecture and modeling languages such as UML, ER, IDEF, Data Flow Diagram.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing software using agile methodologies.
  • Proven track record of technical leadership roles delivering solutions within defined timeframes.
  • Skilled in building relationships with stakeholders and in practice development activities.
  • Demonstrated success in performing work and managing complex and/or large consulting projects.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Flexible remote work environment but must be open to travel.
Preferred Skillsand Education:
  • Experience working with a distributed team.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Certification in any Microsoft, IBM, AWS, or Google cognitive services.
  • Experience with authoring, editing and presenting technical documents.
