Title: Lead Software Engineer

Opportunity:

This is a ground floor opportunity to join a team of innovators who work passionately to apply advanced technologies to solve significant healthcare challenges. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be part of a team that partners with healthcare providers to deliver high-quality services to patients while reducing costs. You will create industry-leading solutions that meet the highest standards of security, quality, and user experience. You will work on a small team that collaborates closely with a larger engineering org as well as product designers to build new products and drive new business in a fast-paced, agile fashion. You will work on all layers of the technology stack from the Javascript frontend to the application logic to the data store backend. You will participate in the full software development-operation life-cycle including concept, design, build, test, deploy and support. You will be expected to propose improvements to our processes and technologies in order to improve the team’s speed, quality, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a highly collaborative, mission-driven, agile product team.
  • Help architect, design, develop, test, and deploy scalable, complex applications
  • Operate with thoughtful efficiency, leading with data, and interacting with empathy


Requirements:

  • A desire to collaborate, coach, and teach while solving difficult business problems and building a world class engineering organization; you’re a learner not a knower
  • Demonstrated ability to lead small teams on large projects - providing day-to-day leadership, breaking down work, leading group estimation, coordinating integration with other teams, etc.
  • 5+ years of professional software development
  • Depth of experience with some of our current technologies (or similar): Ruby on Rails, REST based-service oriented architecture Javascript (React), Java, and/or PostgreSQL
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly adapt to new technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (both technical and non-technical): you can go the distance in a technical discussion but can also bring things up a level in a conversation with colleagues in other areas of the business


Even Better:

  • Experience with working in the Healthcare IT Integration domain, using technologies such as FHIR, SAML/OAuth, Cerner/Epic SmartApps, etc.
  • Comfort working in an Agile environment at a fast pace with changing priorities
  • Previous experience with healthcare or other regulated (e.g. financial) software environments a plus
  • Strong computer science fundamentals; ability to analyze and solve problems, make difficult decisions, and own problems from beginning to end
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, containers, cloud providers
