Each of our software architects provides technical leadership in the form of guidance on solution options and is a subject matter expert in one or more domain areas or technologies. For the Application Architect we are seeking a talented application developer experienced with modern SPA and mobile application frameworks, with a particular knack for navigating the tech behind highly usable customer experiences built from a hybrid of custom, prebuilt, and enterprise software. You will work closely with developers, IT management, and the CIO to present solutions that help guide high-level decisions as OCP transitions into a digital company.

The Applications Architect is responsible for the creation, maintenance and management of IT architecture models and their lower level components related to customer facing application technologies (SPAs, microservices, web, mobile, and supporting APIs). They partner closely with the Enterprise Architect to establish solid interfaces between business and customer systems.

The Applications Architect will also provide technical leadership within the IT department, cultivate a highly collaborative environment and actively engage in the software development process. They are expected to create inspirational example applications, model best practices in their own work, actively coach and mentor developers. They will be is responsible for leading change management towards modern development technologies and implementation approaches.


  • Work with IT and creative professionals in the company in order to determine needs for change in software, platforms, applications and skillsets.
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Architect and IT managers to maintain a technology roadmap consistent with industry trends and company needs.
  • Evaluate and provide technically sound solutions for application development, integration, testing, deployment, sustainability, and feasibility.
  • Advocate for high quality customer experiences, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Suggest and implement solutions for process improvements, taking point for the change management processes amongst the IT developer community.
  • Adhere to requirements and guidelines for quality, security, and extensibility.
  • Analyze and model features, data, specifications, and business processes to solve technological issues and challenges.
  • Architect, develop, implement, test, deploy, and support new and existing system properties consistent with company standards and industry norms.
  • Manage and administer server and cloud applications as well as deploy programming code and databases (development, staging, and production environments).
  • Proactively facilitate, support, and mentor the daily efforts of regular staff as well as project contractors and vendors.


  • Monitors and maintains online production (live) systems 24x7 which may require additional efforts during widespread outages and as part of the after-hours and weekend rotating on-call coverage;
  • Surveys and prototypes technological solutions related to customer facing applications;
  • Evangelizes and trains OCP personnel on current and emerging technologies;
  • Documents and implements solutions for data entry and display, search, payment, checkout, identity management, music xml, asset management and other technologies to enable online and mobile properties;
  • Collaborates in the implementation and maintenance of Information Technology Division initiatives including business systems, networking, applications, and server support.
  • Other duties as assigned.
. Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or equivalent advanced experience specializing in software development, programming, or database implementation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong team player, leadership, and time management skills. Seen as a mentor and solid communicator.
  • Six or more years professional software development experience (at least 5 years in online, web, and mobile development).
  • Proven experience programming in modern application and mobile languages such as PHP, Ruby, Java, Swift, Objective C, and C#, using frameworks such as MVC .Net or .Net Core, Laravel, and Rails. A proven understanding of object-oriented JavaScript with frameworks such as Node.js, Angular, React and Vue.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cloud based technologies, including serverless application design, microservices, and event driven architectures.
  • Advanced skills in object-oriented programming, programming code standards, programming design patterns, and system architecture.
  • Significant exposure to HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, content management systems, user authentication systems, mobile platforms, and e-commerce technologies.
  • Experience with integration to enterprise systems, utilizing asynchronous event driven solutions to reach eventual concurrency with customer facing applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to approach with curiosity, think creatively, collaborate to find solutions, solve problems, and inspire the changes needed to implement solutions.
  • Advanced analytical skills dealing with complex data problems and implementing realistic solutions.
  • Advanced experience developing and/or leading multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
