This position is open to remote work from home Iowa.
Job Summary:
Interfaces with senior leadership to translate business objectives into quantifiable outcomes. Applies change management techniques to ensure optimal outcomes. Actively partners with functional areas throughout the company to seek out and generate improvements to business processes that drive increased business value. Distills metrics and insights into process improvements that improve productivity or quality. Constructs complex data visualizations and presentations that convey meaningful and actionable insights to business stakeholders. Identifies complex business problems and translates them into concrete hypotheses and analysis requirements. Guides business partners through business problem identification, discovery, and solution design.
Essential Functions:
  • Interfaces with senior leadership to translate business objectives into quantifiable outcomes. Applies change management techniques to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Actively partners with functional areas throughout the company to seek out and generate improvements to business processes that drive increased business value. Distills metrics and insights into process improvements that improve productivity or quality
  • Advocates for and demonstrates the value of using data in helping to drive business decisions by facilitating companywide forums for Strategic Analytics customers that highlight cross-functional insights found within data.
  • Constructs complex data visualizations and presentations that convey meaningful and actionable insights to business stakeholders
  • Analyzes audience needs and creates compelling data led narratives critical business decisions that resonate with recipients and lead to significant improvements in business performance
  • Identifies complex business problems and translates them into concrete hypotheses and analysis requirements. Guides business partners through business problem identification, discovery, and solution design
  • Performs routine reporting (weekly, monthly), as well as various ad hoc analyses to help leadership investigate trends and changes within the business
  • Creates and documents efficient, effective, and replicable methods for extracting complex data, developing complex code, organizing data sources, managing data quality, and explaining complex analytic processes
  • Acquires, transforms, and prepares data for statistical analysis. Performs exploratory data analysis to determine most appropriate analytical solution for the business problem
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or related field and five years of experience in a data analytics related field OR
  • Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or related field and four years of experience in a data analytics related field OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, or related field and Certified Specialist in Predictive Analytics (CSPA) designation and four years of experience in data science
  • Additional education may be used to substitute a portion of the experience requirement
  • Insurance experience preferred
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent knowledge of analytics tools/languages, such as R, Python, Power BI, SQL, Denodo, and/or Collibra
  • Ability to write highly complex queries across large volume of data
  • Advanced ability to translate technical ideas into more general terms for business customers
  • Excellent ability to cleanse, manipulate, and present large volumes of data in meaningful ways
  • Excellent ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, investigation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Insurance knowledge preferred
