About the Team
The Data Science Team is responsible for research and development of end to end solutions for search related problems with our new SaaS search platform Springboard. We collaborate with consultants and customers to learn user needs, gather data, design and prototype solutions, as well as validate preliminary results. We continuously explore new ML technologies, and join industry best practices with the latest ideas from academia to turn them into useful products. We work closely with the other engineering teams to put our algorithms into production and out into the world.

Our research areas include a variety of topics like, semantic search, relevance tuning/assessment, recommender systems, NLU and A/B testing.

About you*
You are an experienced machine learning engineer who cares about the work, the team, and the customers; and who plays well with others. You understand common Machine Learning and Deep Learning algorithms, know when a certain algorithm is or is not the right tool for the job, and understand the impacts of different parameter settings.

You have strong experience with recommendation and relevance algorithms, NLP expertise with document classification/clustering techniques and summarization. You are able to code an algorithm from scratch based on a paper or your own ideas, modify existing algorithms, write tests, and validate the results.

Most importantly, you are able to work collaboratively with a diverse community of personalities spread across multiple time zones, leveraging your excellent communication skills to make sure everyone is on the same page.

You Will:

  • Assess ML models and recommend best base models for a variety of use cases
  • Help develop a highly automated model training, assessment, and deployment process including A/B testing
  • Develop software and tooling to facilitate greater automation and operability of services, focus on simplicity of use, operation, and performance
  • Research and share applicable best practices and new discoveries in ML
  • Participate in and drive design decisions
  • Engage with other software team members in a fast-paced environment with frequent iterations; we follow an Agile methodology
  • Work effectively with international teams

The team is responsible for:

  • Building out ML services for Lucidworks' new SaaS search platform, Springboard
  • Leading the way in developing ML services to provide best-in-class user search experiences, including site search, customer service, and eCommerce
  • Developing highly scalable solutions that work across multiple customers and use cases

You Have:

  • 3+ years of professional R&D experience
  • Strong CS skills, ability to write efficient and easy to understand code in Python
  • Good knowledge of the common DS and NLP libraries such as pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, spacy, transformers
  • Experience with the DL frameworks: PyTorch or Keras/Tensorflow (PyTorch strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with microservices and cloud technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
