This position requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of SAS, Python, R, SQL and/or other statistical programming and database languages and a willingness to learn and contribute. This is a remote position but could be located in our Easton or Baltimore, MD offices if preferred. In this role you will be a part of a dedicated and talented data analytics team focused on making a positive difference in the future of the Medicare Parts C and D programs. The PPI MEDIC supports the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid’s fraud, waste and abuse monitoring efforts in the Medicare Parts C and D programs. The primary goal of the PPI MEDIC is to analyze Parts C and Part D data, conduct audits of plans, provide outreach and education to plan sponsors, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of Medicare Parts C and D.

Job Summary: This is an hourly, entry-level data analytics position contributing to teams performing study design, data analysis, data modeling, documentation, and report preparation. Data analysis, including data preparation and presentation of findings, is performed in conjunction with other analysts. Reports are drafted by teams with leadership of Data Managers or Scientists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Trends data to identify potential opportunities (e.g., variances, significant outliers, percentile ranked groups).
  • Works with team to design data analysis strategies to identify potential areas for a focused investigation.
  • Analyze data, draw conclusions, and summarize.
  • Develop tabular and graphical presentations of data.
  • Depending upon the project, assists with statistical analysis or predictive modeling to detect aberrancies and fraud.
  • Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices and procedures, relying on instructions, pre-established guidelines and mentor’s input to perform the functions of the job.
  • Format and/or modify reports applying some complex functions of spreadsheet software.

    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Computer Skills
    • Proficiency with the use of personal computers and the Internet.
    • Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet software.
    • Familiarity with database software and data management is preferred.
    • Completed coursework in SAS or other statistical programming software and demonstrate knowledge of the basic concepts of the software strongly preferred.
    • Intermediate MS Office skills.
  • Other Skills and Abilities
    • Familiarity with statistical methodologies and automation techniques for analytic tasks.
    • Ability to work with highly sensitive information while preserving the confidentiality of the information.



    Required Experience
    • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Statistics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or related discipline (e.g., Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science) required.
    • Coursework or work experience in SAS, SQL, or other statistical programming such as Python and/or R is strongly preferred.
    • Intermediate level Microsoft Office skills to include Excel and Word.
