About the Role

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) in Enterprise Data Organization, you will partner with teams across Business Lines, Infrastructure, and IT Engineering. Specifically, the TPM will be responsible for working closely with diverse functional leads to conceptualize solutions, organize/align multiple engineering teams for delivery, and drive execution. They will look for ways to standardize, ensure execution is efficient and consistent, and set accountability by supervising progress, resolving dependencies, identifying issues, evaluating risks, and communicating status to upper management and project stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for full program lifecycle, from gathering requirements, to prioritizing features, assisting analyst / engineers writing specifications, and driving execution through alignment against strategic technology development goals
  • Build and maintain strong cross functional relationships to better understand our data and needs/uses of that data
  • Work within our Data Engineering team to help build out ticketed work, including: Translate business requirements into technical roadmaps, articulate benefit to the business, and secure UAT support
  • Create technical and requirements specifications
  • Leverage your coding and technical skills to test and prove out ideas
  • Track and manage project risks, status, and deliverable timelines
  • Develop project schedules and implementation plans
  • Manage backlog and drive recurring project updates (E.g. Team meetings / stand-ups, Post-mortems, Sprint Kick-offs)
  • Maintain technical information for onboarding, training, and knowledge transfer.
  • Communicate. Making sure the right people have the right information in time

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent preferred. High school diploma or GED equivalent required

Experience Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Technical Program Manager, Project Manager or Scrum Master or Technical Lead for a technology team that was diligently applying Scrum and / or waterfall principles and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with the team on technical challenges and chart out alternative approaches / solutions.
  • Technology background, especially in a cloud-based architecture with a deep understanding of software development, passion for data and analytics
  • Demonstrated communications ability across a broad set of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
  • Demonstrated ability to remove bottlenecks whether technical or administrative.
  • Demonstrated ability to escalate problems to senior leadership and get their buy-in for proposed resolutions
  • Familiarity with software engineering processes and best-practices
  • Experienced in data engineering processes and best-practices
  • Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated experience turning data into actionable insights, clear opportunities, and viable solutions.
  • Ability to maintain a sense of urgency by ensuring there is strong collaboration between cross-functional teams across the organization who may have competing priorities
  • Learning mindset, intellectually honest, aligned to delivering "wow", hungry for the opportunity and a believer in enjoying the ride

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in insurance industry.
  • You can use Python, SQL, or similar tools to analyze data
  • You have a working knowledge of Data Lakes, Sagemaker and IAM in AWS


  • Farmers offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, qualifications and location
  • CO Only: The pay range for this job being performed in Colorado would be $82,800– 110,200
