Technical Data Engineer (remote)

Data analytics and reporting related to payment acceptance is a key strategic pillar required to deliver WEX Payment Delivery business objectives. The Technical Engineer position, as part of the Product Operations team, is a critical role in the revenue-driving growth of our portfolio. This individual is responsible for managing customer data receipt, file transformation and augmentation where necessary, and formalization of biller enrollment recommendations into a standardized process to optimize payment delivery opportunities.

The successful candidate will need to be able to develop strong stakeholder relationships across WEX including business analysis, commercial, and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Own the ETL process end to end
  • Collaborate with strategy, sales, and operations on business rules that lead to actionable outcomes
  • Own management, comparison, and analysis of multiple disparate datasets
  • Automate analysis processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Perform regular review of biller data to uncover opportunities for more utilization/spend, as well as identifying problem areas

Key Competencies:
  • Ability to develop automated tools or scripts to extract and analyze source data to identify opportunities and blind spots
  • 6+ years of experience developing and managing data
  • At least 3 years of proven experience in complex, large dataset analytics using Python.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze situations accurately and quickly, grasping complexities, identifying key issues, and using business insight to apply sound judgment
  • Excellent attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure and handle ambiguity
  • Ability to bring multiple entities together and create a solution that benefits all parties
  • Displays a creative and flexible approach to meet changing circumstances and problem solving

Key Skills:
  • Experience using python for data analysis and problem solving
  • Experience bringing together disparate datasets from multiple data sources
  • Ability to develop and maintain data cleaning routines that leave a clear audit trail of changes applied
  • Ability to create advanced data matching routines - fuzzy logic
  • Understand data analytics packages in Pandas library
  • Understand notebooks in Sagemaker and AWS
  • Understand Salesforce.com and how to interact with the Salesforce.com API using Python
The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan. Salary Pay Range: $97,000.00 - $129,000.00
