What you will do

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join us in our US based Customer Engineering (CE) team. Customer Engineering work directly with our business development, product and AI research teams to provide a comprehensive solution to our customers' business problems. You will be responsible for understanding our customers' systems and workflows and then integrating our platform with their systems in a seamless way. Additionally you will take an active role in improving processes, removing tech debt, and future-proofing our systems.

We work in a lean and multi-national team with members in Europe, Japan, and the US. We continuously learn how to best achieve our mission: we make the best of feedback and experiences brought in by everyone and we look forward to hearing about what you can bring! This is also a great role if you have an interest in AI, as you will get exposure to how AI/ML is deployed and you will work cross-functionally with other Research and Data teams (previous experience/knowledge of AI is not required however).

You will:

  • Work in a cross-functional team supporting the rollout of our industry leading platform that serves thousands of users daily, playing a pivotal role in the future direction of our company
  • Understanding our prospective customers workflows and systems in order to scope how best to integrate our AI platform
  • Writing code against our platform to onboard new customers
  • Implementing monitoring that will help us identify issues, bottlenecks and calculate metrics in our services
  • Collaborating with AI researchers and business teams to streamline the onboarding processes of customers
  • Improve the quality of all our services so that we can continuously deploy at low risk
  • Clearly and frequently communicate with customers and keep them updated on the issue status

Tech Stack:

We rely heavily on the following tools and technologies below – but you don't need to have prior experience in all of them. We don't mind what languages or frameworks you've used before (in fact, different experiences bring different perspectives to the table) - we're just keen to know that you're willing to break things, fix things, learn fast and carry on creating!

  • Python for our data heavy ingestion components
  • PostgreSQL for persistent data storage
  • Typescript on Node.js with GraphQL to write scalable APIs and UIs
  • Apache Kafka for our asynchronous message queue
  • Harness to run our testing and deployment pipelines
  • Docker to containerize all our applications
  • Apache Mesos + DC/OS (and very soon Kubernetes!) to orchestrate our applications
  • AWS for our infrastructure with heavy focus on S3, Serverless Architecture (Lambdas, Step Functions, … etc.) and EC2 instances

What you need to be successful

  • Minimum of 2+ years experience in a software development role
  • Proficiency in any Object Oriented Programming Language (ideally python)
  • Hands-on experience with REST protocols, web applications, APIs and relational databases
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and exposure to CI/CD best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a highly dynamic environment with rapidly changing objectives
  • Strong ownership mentality and self-drive from the first line of code to the impact on the end user
  • Experience with React and creating scalable front end applications is a big plus
  • A team player with a strong desire to help colleagues succeed
