Who You Are:

BridgeBio is looking for a Scientist that will design and implement statistical analyses to quantify the genetic support for cancer driver-ness based on multiple types of genetic variants (SNV, indel, structural variants, etc.). This individual will use a broad array of available databases with cancer mutation frequency, synthetic lethality, etc., to interpret genetic associations to validate drug targets and identify novel ones. You will conduct computational experiments to support specific treatment mechanisms proposed by a therapy. You will also utilize Mendelian disease overlap, background germline load by available omics data to further extend discovery and validation efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently design, execute and analyze experiments to support scientific decision-making for the Asset Acquisition Team, M&A Team, and subsidiaries of BridgeBio.
  • Develop inventive approaches to mine novel insights from both Cancer, Mendelian, and polygenic human genetics, including (but not limited to) expansion of indication, resolving mechanism of action, patient stratification, biomarker identification, and disease progression or response prediction
  • Have ownership of the design and development of preclinical strategy and communicate findings and implications to senior leadership

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements:

  • Ph.D., MD, or Ph.D./MD degree and expertise in cancer genomics or similar field with at least two years of postdoctoral or industry experience
  • Demonstrated record of achievement as evidenced by first-author publications in top tier journals, grants, scholarships, or awards
  • Familiar with the distinction between driver and passenger mutations in the context of different tumor types
  • Expertise in analyzing cancer genomic datasets in GDC, cbioportal, GENIE, depmap, etc., with direct experience in dealing with raw omics data from TCGA, GDSC, CCLE, etc.
  • Familiar with using AWS, version control (git), and statistical programming languages (R, Python, etc.)
  • Comfortable evaluating and critiquing analytical methods or building solutions as needed to answer scientific questions

What We Offer:

  • Patient Days, where we are fortunate enough to learn more about the lives we are looking to impact and a real exchange of ideas as to how we can improve our efforts
  • A culture inspired by our values: put patients first; think independently, be radically transparent; every minute counts, and let the science speak
  • Learning and development training to help employees be the best version of themselves
  • Collaborative business environment
  • Excellent compensation package (Base, Performance Bonus, Stock, RSU programs)
  • Excellent benefits package
  • Flexible PTO
  • With office locations in San Francisco, Boston, New York, and Raleigh, there are ample cross-collaboration opportunities with other BridgeBio Pharma programs
  • A fast-paced, data-driven, work environment with world-class R&D minds and capabilities
