Job description:
You're an SQL wizard with a full bag of data spells. DECKED seeks an experienced BI Engineer with a desire to continue learning and improving our analytics systems and capabilities. This position requires business acumen, technical expertise, and knowledge of industry best practices. You'll work closely with the data scientist and business stakeholders to bring visibility and deeper understanding of the business through dashboards and ad-hoc analysis. You'll implement data governance best practices to make our warehouse less janky... we need you!
Responsibilities:
- Implement data governance best practices to make steps towards self-service analytics and building trust around data. This includes handling changes in schema and biz logic, updating data documentation and definitions, and maintaining clean and efficient ETL processes.
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of Tableau dashboards to drive key business decisions.
- Use scientific methods and deep understanding of business context to perform ad-hoc analyses to answer deeper business questions. Work closely with business stakeholders and data scientist to identify best approaches.
- Keep the team updated on the latest and greatest industry trends. Identify analytics opportunities and improvements utilizing new tools & approaches.
- Help the team build data-driven culture and proficiency within the company. Further, strengthen our commitment to building a community that encourages learning and sharing enthusiasm for putting data at the center of our business decision-making.
Key requirements:
- Hungry to learn and always curious!
- 3-5 years of experience in Analytics
- Highly proficient in SQL
- Must be able to understand deep business context and able to translate business needs into data needs
- Ability to craft a compelling story using data visualization and experience using visualization tools (i.e.
Tableau)
- Knowledge of (or willing to learn) industry best practices around data warehousing, governance, and modern analytics platforms
- Thrives on ambiguity. Ability to approach complex problems in small steps by making educated guesses to reach the final solution
