Associate Director, Software Engineering

- Lead a group of engineers and data scientists responsible for our Data platform
- Be accountable for planning, delivery, operating procedures, design and architectural patterns, and on-time delivery of the NAVEX One platform data
- Develop and direct procedures and methods to ensure quality standards are met and maintained
- Provide leadership in identifying and presenting technology concerns to the leadership team
- Work in a consultative manner with other department leaders as an advisor of technologies that may improve their efficiency and effectiveness
- Help team members grow through mentoring, coaching, 1:1s, performance appraisals, career progression plans and compensation decisions
- Participate in the innovative advancements of our product platform and collaborate with our awesome agile team members
- Promote opportunities for refactoring and identify areas of optimization
- Research and leverage commercial products, libraries and tools that can be used to solve problems
- Participate in design sessions with other engineers, architects, and product managers, providing constructive and honest feedback during sprint retrospectives with a team mindset
- Use automation, including continuous integration, automated deployments, automated unit, and functional testing
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced degree desirable
- 12+ years of experience in a related field with 5+ years demonstrated experience in leadership roles, leading a wide variety of experienced engineers and architects
- Experience working at a management level of a development organization
- A successful track record inspiring and developing large teams
- Experience with managing agile development teams and processes
- Skilled with change management, process improvement and project management
- Ability to build consensus among different groups with competing demands
- Experienced in planning for the future, keeping abreast of new trends and technologies while managing day-to-day projects
- Ability to work well in a team environment and attitude to focus on team specific goals and objectives
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and influence others on the best solution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a commitment to engage and collaborate with people across a variety of levels with diverse backgrounds
- Expert knowledge of data management systems, practices and standards
- Expert analytical and design skills, including the ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes to understand information flows in computer systems
- Data pipelines and data lake platform enablement tools
- Expertise in the fields of data quality, data profiling, data security and master data concepts
- Expertise in both SQL and NoSQL implementations
- Experience with SQL profiling, performance tuning and data ingestion into data warehouses
