Required Qualifications (As evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Four [4] years of full-time experience in upgrading, installing, configuring, securing, monitoring performance tuning and troubleshooting Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). In lieu of a degree, a combination of education and full-time experience with upgrading, installing, configuring, securing, monitoring performance tuning and troubleshooting Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) equaling eight (8) years may be considered. Experience in Unix shell and Windows Powershell scripting.

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Additional years of experience in upgrading, installing, configuring, securing, monitoring, performance tuning and troubleshooting ERP systems. Experience in configuration of web applications, including HTTP and log analysis. Experience in networking and security. Experience in managing ERP systems in UNIX/LINUX/Windows environments. Experience in Oracle SQL query turning, Oracle database administration and/or experience in successful performance tuning of complex systems.

Brief Description of Duties:
The incumbent is responsible for installing, configuring, upgrading, patching, integrating, and troubleshooting PeopleSoft ERP and other software applications, including writing scripts to automate some administrative tasks. Keeping information security in mind, this position will contribute to the efforts of safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the enterprise applications and information assets across the University while giving our user community the best, most up-to-date, reliable, resilient tools and data to build the Stony Brook experience. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.


  • Provide senior level system engineering support for Stony Brook University’s day-to-day enterprise operations (currently PeopleSoft): i.e. administrating, installing, patching, configuring and upgrading. Provide support of the integration between PeopleSoft and external applications. Initiate server tuning, installs, bug fixes, building block and module additions. Identify and resolve highly complex system problems. Formulate system error reports and initiate vendor support calls to resolve system problems. Provide consulting support and develop procedures and codes to support the operation environment. Write scripts to support report and function automations.
  • In performance of all job duties, at all times be responsible for delivering optimal customer service, for protecting institutional data and privacy, and the excellent delivery of solutions and services by following divisional and University policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Participate in the problem resolution process in support of application development efforts and user community with issues of functionalities. Identify, diagnose, and correct issues from reports, servers, databases, networks, or configuration errors, providing current, dynamic resolutions.
  • Participates in the development of Network security for servers. Set up, maintain and manage firewalls, secure VPN for server access and user/group authentications, protection filters, certificate installs and other security appliances.
  • Provide backup support of external applications integrated with PeopleSoft. Develop, modify and maintain scripts and PL/SQL to meet the requirements of the accounts creation, deletion, purge, disable, etc. and other function changes and/or improvements.
  • As a subject matter expert, provide support for projects involving server configuration, various software installation & integration, deployment & upgrades, platform migrations, and troubleshooting.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
