Business Intelligence Analyst
General Overview

As a member of the Business Intelligence team at Homethrive, this position provides analytical and technical support to our broader organization as well as client reporting support. Specific job responsibilities for the BI Analyst include systems and business analyses, documenting business intelligence and reporting processes, client support, and ongoing system maintenance. This role will serve as liaison between the broader technology, data, and business intelligence teams while supporting the Homethrive business with metrics that are aligned with the business goals and objectives.

This resource will support data auditing, modeling and metric analysis using multiple data sources to provide data needed for business decision making. The BI Analyst will report directly to the VP of Data Strategy and Operations and will be cross-trained by the Senior BI Developer to provide back-up coverage, as necessary.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Gathers and documents business and functional requirements for analyses
  • Drives requirements gathering sessions, and prepares, translates and delivers work products/prototypes, as appropriate
  • Create complex queries and distribute reports that meet business needs of Homethrive teams and clients
  • Works with the Data Engineer and BI Developer to execute data analysis/data profiling as needed
  • Assists with functional validation
  • Assists with test data management and execution oversight
  • Maintains tracker of overall business analysis efforts according to the organization vision and team needs
  • Responsible for the creation of communication and/or training documentation as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a concentration in Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field. Master’s degree is preferred
  • 2-4 years of healthcare, insurance or related experience required
  • 2-4 years of experience in a data or analytics role
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency of SQL and business intelligence tools, such as Tableau, and querying complex data structures
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency of MS Excel
  • Experience working in an Agile / Scrum environment is preferred
  • Familiarity with data preparation techniques and tools such as Alteryx and Tableau Prep
  • Tableau Certification preferred

  • Has strong data discovery and investigative skills
  • Excellent consultative skills, understanding business needs and translating those needs to technical requirements
  • Experience with Agile methodology and practices; familiarity with being a BA in an agile environment
  • Practices good communication and listening skills; ability to facilitate meetings, ask key questions and document action items
  • Storytelling: ability to communicate complex ideas in a way that is digestible to broad audience and leads to decision and action
  • Ability to analyze business processes, identify problems and offer solutions
  • Demonstrates logical, rigorous, and analytical problem-solving/critical thinking approaches
  • Proactive and aware of critical dependencies; manages to deadlines and follows through on commitments
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, embraces new information and learnings as they arise
  • Builds relationships with stakeholders by demonstrating trust and expertise
