Summary/Objective

The Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst provides strategic, analytical, and technical support for business intelligence activities. The analyst leverages data to gain key insight into business opportunities, and effectively presents these insights to business stakeholders. The analyst is responsible for the creation, distribution, and successful delivery of all BI reports. The analyst also owns the ETL process for all BI reporting.

1.Provides strategic direction and leadership to the business around business intelligence and data warehousing. This includes staying current on relevant system changes, ensuring proper training, maintaining vendor relationships and creating/maintaining the budget to adequately improve, upgrade and maintain the data warehouse and reporting environment.
2.Partners with stakeholders, process specialists, and users to elicit and document business requirements
3.Partners with business teams to define and document business requirements for new metrics and reports
4.Designs, develops, and maintains reports and analytical tools
5.Performs ongoing monitoring and refinement of reports
6.Provides technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools
7.Identifies and analyzes errors and inconsistencies in the data and provides timely resolutions
8.Translates data results into written reports, tables, graphs and charts to convey information to management
9.Creates written communication materials that effectively summarize findings and support recommendations

10.Creates ad hoc reports and views on a frequent basis to assist management in understanding, researching and analyzing issues

11.Teaches and advocates the use of business intelligence tools across levels of the organization

12.Responsible for the creation, enhancement, and maintenance of the ETL process.

13.Responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the cloud-based data warehouse.

14.Complies with, supports, and enforces Peak Toolworks policies and procedures.

15.Communicates and maintains good rapport with colleagues and staff.

16.Keeps the Senior Team informed of progress, issues, problems and successes.

17.Develops and maintains a positive and professional work environment.

Performance Management and Success in the Role
The output of the Business Intelligence Analyst will be linked to the corporate goals of Revenue Expansion and EBITDA enhancement but will also include the ability to connect with customers, understand the business, and assist all users of the tool. Success in the role will be measured in part to these metrics as well as individual behaviors including: Depth of Thought, Ability to Drive for Results, Ability to work with and through others (People), and Self Knowledge, understanding personal strengths and weaknesses.

Has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Travel
This position may require up to 25% travel. Travel will include training with teams.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 2-5 years’ experience using Power BI; Minimum 5 years of experience in Business Analytics
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience using ETL tools such as SSIS
  • Minimum 1-3 years’ experience with Data Warehousing in a Microsoft Azure environment
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Project Management
  • Demonstrated experience in writing software requirements and test specifications
  • Demonstrated experience using data to drive business decisions
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office,SQL, MS SQL Server, SSRS
  • Good understanding of business processes and their dependencies within an ERP application: financial, engineering, purchasing, inventory management, manufacturing operations

  • Tableau, Crystal Reports
  • Epicor ERP
  • Dell Boomi
  • MS DevOps
  • Bi-lingual/multi-lingual. Fluent in writing and speaking English/French/Spanish
