We’re looking for a Systems Administrator to join our team!
The Systems Administrator … is responsible for maintaining a stable, smooth-running technical environment for Animal Supply Company’s multi-state operations. The SA will manage network and systems administration, perform ongoing IT projects, and provide Tier 3 end user support as needed. Under the direction of the Manager, the SA will help create and maintain IT Infrastructure technology standards and best practices for Animal Supply Company.

Server Administrator Responsibilities
  • Manage, monitor, perform updates, backups and maintenance as needed for Physical and Virtual servers in all locations
  • Check Windows Server logs for errors and warnings, take appropriate action as necessary
  • Research and recommend server, disk and RAID configurations for intensive database, application, and BI functions.
  • Microsoft technologies (e.g. Windows Server 2008/12, Windows 7/8/10, SQL server, Exchange online, Office 365)
  • Active Directory administration and management
  • Manage DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and WSUS
Network & Telephony Responsibilities
  • HP server and switching hardware
  • Maintain Routers with site-to-site VPN. SonicWALL experience preferred.
  • SAN technologies including iSCSI storage solutions
  • Manage MPLS private network
  • Telephony Support – Support ShoreTel Sky cloud-based phone system; monitor/support Fax Servers; manage all POTS lines
Other Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Document and keep up-to-date disaster recovery/business continuity plans
  • Proactively communicate with Manager all issues and/or ongoing developments that may impact service quality to users, operational effectiveness or efficiency
  • Participate in departmental goal setting, budgeting, action plans and timeline development to address short- and long-term business needs

Do you have the following qualifications?
  • Demonstrated experience providing successful support for a multiple location organization with a high volume of work
  • Positive attitude with customer-centric focus; professional appearance and demeanor
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and listening skills
  • Work with a sense of urgency, resolve problems timely, and maintain patience while working on escalated support issues
  • Strong organization/time management skills, successfully manage multiple priorities with potential conflicting deadlines
  • Successful working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment, as well as managing small IT projects.
  • PowerShell or other scripting experience
  • VMware vSphere, ESXi experience
  • Strong understanding of server & RAID configuration options to optimize maximum performance
  • Solid understanding of the OSI Model
  • VLANs, routing, LAN and WAN protocols
Your education & experience should be similar to:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study; will consider combination of college and work experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum of 3-5 five years’ experience in Systems administration
  • MCSE Certification preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid unexpired driver’s license, good driving record and proof of current insurance required
Working conditions:
Open office environment with moderate noise level. Occasionally travel by car or plane to perform work at satellite locations. Overnight travel will be required. On-call 24/7.

The required physical abilities to perform this job:
  • Driving automobile to various locations
  • Primarily sitting, with some walking, standing and bending
  • Able to hear and speak into telephone
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard, mouse and other technical instruments
  • Must be able to kneel and bend to set up PCs in workstations and under desks
  • Involves working in tight spaces, such as server rooms
  • May be exposed to dusty environments while resolving PC and network issues
  • Occasionally may be required to jointly lift equipment up to 100 lbs with one other person
