We are actively seeking a VP, Analytics, Global Operations. Preferred location is North America (remote). The role will require periodic travel as necessary across the world.

Position Summary


Rimini Street is growing rapidly globally, with double-digit annual growth in new business and revenue. The VP, Analytics, Global Operations will be responsible for driving Rimini Street’s vision, strategy, and execution to harness the power of data science (e.g. monitoring / reporting, insights, categorization, predictive machine learning, …) and decision science (i.e. how to make best use of data science outputs that drive action) to enable sustainable business growth and profitability while improving internal efficiencies / effectiveness of processes, systems, and people across multiple functional organizations. This is a global role with a team of direct reports and dotted line to analysts and data scientists embedded within functional organizations.


The role will report directly to the SVP Global Operations at Rimini Street, who is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, near Rimini Street’s operating headquarters in Pleasanton, CA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


Vision and Strategy:

  • Work with the Operating Committee to define a five-year vision for analytics at Rimini Street’s that supports the business in growing to $1B in revenue by extracting maximum value from operational data to drive effectiveness and efficiency of people, processes, and systems
  • Translate the five-year vision into a comprehensive analytics strategy organized into two distinct roadmaps
    • SUSTAIN: Working in collaboration with the Operating Committee, build / maintain a roadmap of projects that materially improve existing analytics value, improve efficiency of delivering existing analytics, identify/consolidate duplicate analytics on the same business problem/subject matter, or deprecate existing analytics that provide limited / no business value. Projects in this category include, but not limited to::
      • Data management (consolidation / integration / quality)
      • Outcome-chain based cross-functional monitoring and reporting that standardizes reporting across groups and provides insights into trends across regions and accounts.
      • Reliable Customer Health Score that captures current customer health, but can also predict customer health at intervals in the future. Along with predictions, provide next best actions / insights.
    • DISRUPT: Working in collaboration with the Operating / Committee, build/maintain a roadmap of innovation projects that will provide the basis for a portfolio of next generation analytic capabilities/services. Projects in this category include, but not limited to:
      • Customer journey insights (Land, Adopt, Expand, Renew) and next best action for providing a seamless personalized customer experience at scale.
      • Automation and self-service capabilities for low priority and routine cases through digital assistants and conversational AI.
      • Proactive support through machine learning models that identify potential customer issues before a case is even opened.
      • New Client Invoicing (NCI) Opportunity data driven predictions (i.e. Probability of Close Won, Probability of Closing by the Close Date) with next best action recommendations/insights
      • Predict renewal risk and provide next best action recommendations/insights
Execution
    • People
      • Recruit, manage, and lead a team (both direct and dotted line reports) of data scientists and analysts.
      • Create and deliver effective training/mentoring to upskill existing team (direct reports and dotted line reports) on advanced data science and decision science concepts and techniques (i.e. Insights, factor analysis, clustering/segmentation, predictions, risk/reward, tradeoff optimization, …)
      • Assist project teams determine the best route for tackling use cases (which might be determined by understanding the scope, identifying possible techniques and approaches, and outlining both the business and technical advantages or drawbacks to each one).
    • Processes
      • Develop and implement a repeatable, scalable, and manageable methodology for data science projects based on industry best practices like CRISP-DM
      • Drive cross-functional Sustain and Disrupt roadmap projects and ensure projects deliver expected business outcomes
      • In collaboration with key business stakeholders and IT, ensure data integrity and
        data governance using DMM framework
      • Work with HR, Legal, and IT teams to navigate ethical concerns around machine learning and ways to address them (including but not limited to establishing a sound governance strategy, standards for data quality and integrity, and a Responsible AI framework).
    • Systems
      • Develop a scalable and maintainable environment of data science tools
      • Enhance / improve the development and deployment architecture / systems used for analytics projects
Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

Education

  • PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent

Location

  • North America (Remote)
Experience
  • A successful track record of building and leading analytics teams in enterprise
  • 10+ years of experience in developing Enterprise support
  • Experience building data science roadmap of projects and executing data science projects that deliver business outcomes
  • Participation in management teams overseeing global activities and hundreds of employees
  • Participation in annual planning cycles and budget processes
  • Experience with organizational transformations and change management.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Data Science: ability to derive new insight from complex data-sets and develop high-impact data products using statistical analysis (regression, hypothesis testing, Bayesian models, etc.) and machine learning (supervised and unsupervised)
  • Decision Science: ability to translate statistical analyses and machine learning models into actionable insight to drive business outcomes.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to up-level communications for senior executive audiences including the Board of Directors and C-level leaders.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead projects and initiatives and influence other leaders, stakeholders and peers without having direct authority.
  • Problem solving: creative problem-solving skills including finding alternative paths to resolving conflict and achieving goals while adapting to a rapidly changing environment
  • Collaboration: Ability to build relationships, establish trust and rapport with stakeholders across different groups and different levels (engineer to senior executive)
  • Proven high integrity, professionalism, maturity and discretion to handle and manage the full scope of highly sensitive, confidential and non-public information.
