Thought Industries

Thought Industries powers the business of learning with our industry-leading enterprise learning technology. We were founded in 2014 around the core belief that online learning experiences should be modern, intuitive, engaging, and scalable. Today, our growing team deploys the industry’s leading B:B learning solution with native tools and integrations to capture learner interest, deliver learning outcomes at scale, and bolster retention rates for our customers.

The Opportunity
Your job is to formulate our company’s point of view on the industries it serves. You will conduct structured interviews, industry research, and data analysis to discover best practices, insights, benchmarks, and business frameworks that advance the digital learning and customer education industries while solving “up at night” problems for our customers. You serve as chief researcher for our Thought Leadership team, whose charter is to drive conversation in our industry, attract partners who seek our expertise, ready client-facing teams to function as strategic advisors, and look over the horizon to discover future sources of product superiority.

This role is an opportunity to:
  • Learn about fast-growing, future-proof industries directly from expert practitioners and business leaders
  • Hone the art and craft of research
  • Develop consulting-style business analysis skills
  • Make a meaningful impact on a rapidly growing technology company

With time and demonstrated success, you will take on more responsibility, with opportunities to manage our overall research process and serve as the face of that research with customers and industry experts.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct interviews, literature reviews, and data analysis to identify emerging business problems and surface insights and best practices to solve them
  • Use quantitative surveys and analysis of extensive user data to create benchmarks for digital learning business
  • Document and develop research findings, and collaborate with our content team to package findings into whitepapers, case profiles, videos, webinars, presentation decks, and actionable consulting frameworks
  • Drive research processes forward with intensity, engaging senior leadership and outside experts as needed in a series of structured checkpoints to ensure high quality, on-time results
  • Collaborate with product team to identify and prioritize customer needs to inform our product roadmap

Qualifications:
  • 1-2+ years experience in an analytical role (consulting, research, strategy, UX, data analysis)
  • Natural intellectual curiosity and a love of learning and discovery
  • Skilled at (or interest in developing skill in) using structured interviews to uncover and develop actionable insights and best practices
  • Strong interest in and/or desire to learn about the digital training and customer education industries
  • Energized by driving projects forward, and able to maintain a healthy balance of velocity and thoughtfulness
  • You run to criticism. You are growth-oriented and embrace coaching and feedback as a means of building your skills and capabilities
  • Strong collaboration skills: ability to listen, to build on ideas of others versus assert your perspective and to drive toward team accomplishments versus individual wins
  • Resourceful. Willing and able to sweet-talk, make the case, email for a third time, and otherwise break down doors to set up critical research conversations with busy people
  • Experience collaborating with data scientists and/or engineers to develop and test hypotheses
  • Familiarity with data analysis fundamentals and knowledge of SQL and Python are a big plus
