Job Description Summary WD USA:
Sr Engnr - Softwr Engnr; Data Warehouse Sr. Developer
Sr. Developer Data Warehouse responsibilities include all aspects of the Decision Point System Development Life Cycle for NYSOH. This involves design, development and production support of MicroStrategy reports and dashboards, scheduling agents, the transactional system and Employee Scorecard changes. The Sr. Developer will provide guidance and mentoring on all components for MicroStrategy including data visualization and cloud migration to AWS.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Creation/ maintenance of the STAR schema which forms the framework of the MicroStrategy front end reporting platform. OBIEE development experience a plus but not mandatory
  • Creation / maintenance of Public and Schema objects mapped to the database layer. Developed Reports/ Dashboards with different Analytics Views (Drill-Down / Dynamic, Pivot Table, Column Selector, Tabular with global and local Filters).
  • Creation / maintenance of MicroStrategy insert and update transactions for user input to the database layer.
  • Involved in setting up security using both document ACLs and data driven security based on user’s placement within the organization.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of development in Agile Methodology.
  • Work with AEG to perform and validate MicroStrategy installations/upgrades.
  • Design, build and test new MicroStrategy reports and dashboards
  • Researches and resolves technical problems associated with the reporting applications.
  • Provide senior guidance on MicroStrategy and report optimization techniques.
  • Create warehouse tables and extend warehouse columns to bring in new source system changes.
  • Validate the data in the warehouse against the source systems.
  • Use of ETL processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements.
  • Work with AEG to perform and validate MicroStrategy installations/upgrades.
  • Participate in defining standards and best practices for administration.
  • Participate in defining and provide guidance on best practices for developers.
  • Responsible for adhering to established safety standards
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Occasionally lifts, carries, or otherwise moves items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Work is constantly performed in an office environment
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by management

Education/Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field with 8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field with 6 years of relevant experience, or a PhD Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field with 3 years of experience; or equivalent experience.
  • 8 years of experience in MicroStrategy development, data warehousing and data modeling.
  • Working knowledge in all phases of Business Intelligence development life cycle.
  • Working knowledge of Agile.
  • Has experience converting Business Information into Data Models.
  • Has knowledge in Data Flow Diagrams and ability to articulate Data flows in both business and IT terms from upstream application to downstream application.
  • Proven analytical skills.
  • Report development using MicroStrategy
  • Experience with MicroStrategy
  • Technical Skills / Knowledge Preferred: Oracle 12C; SQL; MicroStrategy, AWS, OBIEE
  • Subject Matter Expertise/Experience Required.
  • Experience in performance tuning and loading optimization.
  • Ability to create technical documents and requirements.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for up to 80% of time
  • Ability to lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Frequent use of computer, telephone, and office equipment (copier, fax, scanner)
 Job Summary:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development of software solutions that will meet or exceed business requirements; the development effort includes designing and implementing modules to the system specifications, conducting unit testing, troubleshooting issues and producing detailed proposals to resolve issues.
  • Evaluate new coding techniques, tools, modules, and implementation as appropriate.
  • Lead and mentor entry and mid-level developers.
  • Consult on requirements elicitation and definition.
  • Design software solutions per systems requirements.
  • Code software solutions per designs.
  • Code reviews, unit test, and integrate coded modules.
  • Assist other developers in resolving issues by providing guidance and training.
  • Support testing and remediate defects.
  • Support users through troubleshooting and analysis of production logs and data.
  • Investigate new solutions, tools, products, and techniques to incorporate into coding standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
  • Exercises judgement in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel as a team lead.
