The Pre-AP Program at College Board shares a passion for educational equity, and a commitment to developing classroom supports that improve educational outcomes for all students. In this product-driven program, the Product Management team leads ideation, solution development, and delivery of tools and resources to meet the needs of our constituents, through cross-functional collaboration across the program. Pre-AP courses feature grade-level instruction intended to give all students the opportunity for growth. They include focused course frameworks, model lessons, digital classroom assessments, and virtual professional learning. Pre-AP focuses on skills that students will need to succeed in AP courses, college, and careers, and frameworks are back-mapped from AP courses.

About the Opportunity
As the Director of Digital Product Management, you create a vision and maintain a roadmap for Pre-AP’s external-facing digital platform, Pre-AP Classroom, based on trends in the market, customer needs, organizational priorities. This includes proactively incorporating feedback from users (teachers, school and district leaders, and students) and internal College Board functions such as Accessibility, Customer Experience, Communications, Content, Instruction, & Assessment (CIA), Data Governance, Legal, LEvR (Learning, Evaluation, and Research), Information Security, Marketing, Professional Learning, Sales, Strategic Operations, and User Experience. You directly manage the backlog for a cross-functional development team. You will also execute of the vision and the roadmap and manage the sprint backlog for Pre-AP Classroom by managing a development team including Engineers, QA and Design.

The greater the complexity you face, the greater initiative and leadership you assume, and you are adept at exercising their influence to get things done across the organization.

In this role, you will:

Develop and communicate the product vision and roadmap and maintain the roadmap as market needs and internal priorities evolve (30%)
  • Ensure alignment of product roadmap to market needs and organizational goals and priorities
  • Understand and support program goals
  • Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities to reduce operational complexity and risk
  • Gather market data and user feedback consistently to shape the product roadmap and improve user experience
  • Stay on top of trends in the market and key market requirements
  • Track competitive offerings and alternative solutions in the market

Lead Execution of the product vision by developing processes that support efficiency, quality and produce tangible value to customers through and Agile process. (40%)
  • Manage the intake of enhancement requests from stakeholders (internal and external) and prioritizes and sequences epics and stories in the product backlog based on feature priority
  • Attends and actively participates in ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily scrum, sprint review/demo, retrospective ceremonies
  • Breaks features into epics and user stories with the development team.
  • Writes user stories with clear acceptance criteria and acceptance tests features once delivered
  • Knows the end-to-end experience of the platform and can demo all capabilities on-the-fly to help users better understand the experience.

Collaborate across the organization to ensure successful implementation of the product (15%)
  • Collaborate with product owners and CB internal functions to develop and update external and internal training, support materials, manuals, marketing materials, and communications for new product features.
  • Communicate product updates to internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal functional areas to identify and implement changes to the product’s implementation processes, program policies, and operational support model.
  • Partner with Finance to develop a sustainable pricing model for the product

Lead new product development efforts for a product offering (15%)
  • Develop business case and rationale for new product investments
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver new product offering into the market.
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization to develop a go-to-market strategy and launch plan.

About You
You have:
  • 7-10+ years relevant experience
  • Experience managing a product from inception through design to implementation and launch
  • Experience working in an Agile product development work environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to complete complex tasks on short deadlines and in a fast-past environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; MBA or related Master’s Degree preferred
Preferably you have:
  • Excellent prioritization skills
  • Experience distilling data to inform key decisions
  • Experience designing and communicating Objective and Key Results (OKRs)
  • Experience mentoring junior colleagues
  • Experience creating business cases and receiving buy-in from senior leadership
  • Conflict resolution skills
